Englishman's Claret
The Wines of Bordeaux
What could possibly be said about Bordeaux that hasn't already been said?
Isn't the region hopelessly ossified? Unchangeably set in its ways?
These are common misconceptions. Bordeaux is an exciting and vibrant place, today producing some of the best wines in its long history. But it is also a complex, ever-changing one. To really know it, one must draw upon a wealth of experience, Janus-like, looking forward and backward simultaneously.
The synthesis of experience regarding the past century of Bordeaux wines and a curious attitude toward the present and future of the region is what I try to provide herein. I hope that you enjoy it.
